This rig was death on Kingfish, Dolphin, Wahoo, and Cobia. Sometimes barracuda.

Found it rummaging through an old tackle box that has seen much better days. Brought back memories of hours spent sewing the rigs to the bait. Yep, I sewed the hooks to the bait. Caught a 40 pound King on one and dozens upon dozens Dolphin..

Who knows the name of the rig? should be easy...

Yep, ballyhoo rig.

Big needle, 4 pound mono, long pointed steel rod with open eyelet on one end. Slice belly open, insert rod from roughly ventral through mouth with rig attached, pull swivel out just enough and sew cavity from ail to head and be sure you close the mouth. It would tend to track upright if you was good with just enough of the hook out to catch Mr. Kingfish.

Next I would attached about 6-10 inches of steel wire to swivel and add a swivel to the terminal end. Sometimes I just got extra rigs completely wired up & ready to go on the water if we ran low. I've also used smaller mullet.
