I'm starting to get interested in the smaller caliber shotguns. I've been thinking about getting a .410 and loading my own shells for this spring.

I am new to turkey hunting and I was going to ask about the 410 being a good gun to hunt with. My son cant handle a 20 ga right now but he does like the 410.

So what rang is a 410 good for?

Hal! Welcome to tndeer. For those that don't know he's Hawglips.

Anyone interested there is a Ithaca 28ga Model 37 ultralight at Academy in Clarksville. A most beautiful gun and is on sale right now. Sells for 1200 online and I want to say they have this one going for $750. If I had money it would be mine. It's BEAUTIFUL!

You can determine that by shooting a big piece of paper and seeing how far you can get 100 pellets in a 10" circle. Most factory shells with a full choked gun will do that 15 - 20 yds.

My .410 rig gets that at 40 yds. But I'm shooting handloads with 18g/cc shot which is the key.

Do you still sell recipes and ingredients?

Yes, I sell the shot and have developed lab tested load data which I give with it.
Hal is top notch and his loads are lab tested and proven in the field. You can't go wrong with his loads, their performance is off the charts. Good to see you on here Hal. I'll likely be in touch in the coming days as my hunting buddy wants some TSS loaded for this spring.
