I wish fishing below the dam in Greene county last night and caught something very surprising. A 28 inch long walleye!! Are there any local fisherman that have caught walleye this far up the river? I was shocked. I was told by a game warden that there were no walleyes in this section of the river? I caught this fish fishing for musky (which i have caught several of this year) on a huge rapala jointed xrap. Im going back tonight to see if i can catch anymore. Please let me know if anyone has ever heard of walleyes this far up the river. Ill post pics if i can figure out how.

this picture does not do this fish justice. Although it was skinny as a rail it was at least 28 inches

I was catching 3-4 walleyes a night before this last monsoon!! Im very interested to see how this new water level will effect the fishing. Seems i always get more musky action when the waters up. Heres a few more of the muskies ive caught this year. i usually release them, but the big one on the scale went to the taxidermist

Ive always heard muskies were the fish of 10,000 casts. From my experience, this couldn't be further from the truth. If anyone is in the surrounding area and wants some tips i'd be more then happy to share. Its really hit or miss for me though. I haven't really caught that many, but i believe im starting to get some kind of pattern. Either they're there and aggressive and you get a strike immediately, or you wear your wrist out throwing huge-cumbersome baits all day long and its hopeless. :bash: Its worth it when you finally get one though! Catching the big walleye is just a new added bonus. Im beginning to develop a love with this river. Its a tough one but i like the challenge

Yeah, there really isnt much boat access unless you have a jet drive. It is a natural flow river so be mindful of the weather. It does tend to get muddy after heavy rains.
