The theory is that the supposed #2 gobbler doesn't move right in. The pecking order of the flock has to be reestablished before the hens will let the new #2 do the deed
Turned 57 last year during season. Still using climbers and hang ons but just this past season my mind shifted to thoughts of how much longer I have to be able to hunt the way I always have so this thread kinda hits home. It is definitely getting harder for sure. I see giving up the climber...
Out of 6 hunts on 6 different private properties so far this year, I have heard 1 gobble on the neighboring property on 1 hunt. Have seen a total of 13 hens on said hunts and ZERO toms on the properties I hunt. Depressing to say the least.
Mouth calls are impossible for me. Can't even get any sound that resembles a turkey. I gave up trying many years ago and just figured my mouth has a shape that just isn't built to work.
