Bought some nuddy sd cams for 20.99 and that included sd card and batteries. They work fine. However, i had forgotten how much work sd cans are. Going to 3 different tracts and pulling cards, and having to scrioll through endless photos of a card viiewer. I guess cell cams have spoiled me. Gonna hold out till September to deploy the cell cams.

No doubt about it, for pure convenience, cellular cams will spoil you, especially if your hunting ground is not local. I still love to run traditional SD trail cams in strategic locations.

For me, check non-cell cams on a given property is usually an all-day event (depending on the number of cameras). They ARE labor intensive.
Checking SD cards is like Christmas morning for me. I come home from the property and sit down with a laptop and my wife and I are always anxious to see what went on , which Buck amazes us and all of it. My oldest camera, a Moultrie 880 which has to be pushing 15 years old and has worked fine developed a weird problem. The first week of June when I pulled the card out of it I noticed that the thin plastic lens like material that covers the sensor was cracked. I touched it to investigate and it completely crumbled. I guess the age it was being out in the weather it deteriorated. Anyway two days ago I pulled the cards and found approximately 25,000 pictures of nothing. Apparently it was taking one picture per minute for about 6 weeks. In daylight only. So the reason for this post is that yesterday I was at Bass Pro and Sportsman's in Chattanooga. Neither Place had any noncellular cameras to speak of. It seems to be going that way now. I realize it's only July and they haven't stocked up on cameras for this fall. Also my favorite Browning camera on Amazon seems to be discontinued. But I will be buying another non-cellular cam so that I can have the fun of viewing the SD card.

Check out Gardepro on Amazon. As of last year they were still offering some traditonal cams. I picked a few up and was VERY pleased with them. Will be buying more of them if / when some of my older Brownings bite the dust.

I'm actually looking at replacing my GardePros. They have phenomenal flashes, great video clarity, and unparalleled sound recording. However, they miss too many triggers (at least the model I'm using do - A60). I'm going back to Browning Spec Ops HP5s. I'm going to lose flash distance, but gaining trigger reliability.
I've had GardePros in the past. They worked really good for a while. Longevity wasn't the greatest but I didn't mind considering their low price. I picked up a Browning Spec Ops Elite HP 5 this morning on eBay for $169.99.
Edit to add that that is free shipping so it's a pretty good deal.

That flash distances on the GardePros is truly amazing. I can show you videos of illumination enough to see buck or doe at 150 feet across an open plot. Image quality is also amazing with their Sony imagers. And sound recording unparalleled.

I'd like to put an sd cam and cellular cam next to each other and see if my cell cam is missing some action. Sometimes I think my cell cam is missing some shots. Especially when where it's at only gets 3 bars of service. Maybe it's not missing anything but it would be an interesting experiment. And put that doubt to bed. Or make me wish I hadn't found out.

They all miss. Sd cameras do to. Cant tell you how many times while hunting had deer in front of a variety of brands of different cameras that don't take pictures of the deer. Cell or non cell They all have misses.

I've never witnessed that from my Brownings. I've witnessed it a bunch from my GardePro A60s. Driving/walking past my Brownings, they trigger every time. Again, not the case with the GardePros.
Have you ever experienced this with a Reconyx?
I have done this, and it was pretty well a wash with my moultrie SD cams vs stealth cell cams.

The only time I've seen my Brownings fail to trigger is on extremely cold mornings, when I'm so cold leaving the stand that I don't take off any of my insulating layers. I'm wearing insulated clothes, head covering and face mask, and insulating gloves. At that point, so little of my body heat is leaking out of my clothing, there is nothing to trigger the camera when I walk by. This situation is rare, but I've seen it.

Now THAT I have a bunch of, especially sunlight on leaves being moved by the wind. I have one particular traditional scrape that I monitor every year. It is out at the end of a southern running point. The overhanging limb is beech, which doesn't lose its leaves during deer season. On a sunny day, with sunlight on that leafy overhanging limb, any breeze will produce false trigger after false trigger. I may pull a card, see it has 350 videos on it, yet only 10 or 15 are deer. All the rest the limb moving in the breeze.
I've also run into that problem with tall blades of grass moving in the wind along food plots or other openings.

To me accessibg pics from sd cans is cumbersome. I find my self using a muddy sd cam viewer with a 4" screen taking pics of it to catalog the bucks. I need to buy a laptop with a sd card slot, but those are getting harder to find. Here a few from my moms farm after a week

I've seen small devices that will automatically download the contents of an SD card to a small internal drive. Just plug the card in and the pictures download automatically. You can then carry that back to your computer.
I keep with me an SD card reader that plugs into my phone for looking at videos while I'm standing at the camera. But if I really want to look them over in the field, I also have a tablet (mounted in a shock-proof case) I carry in my ATV camera bag.
I've had several Brownings glitch and take pics nonstop back to back until card fills or batteries die, whichever comes first. It's happened with so many of them that I stopped buying Browning. I did eventually figure out that it only happens when I have a cam set for a number burst of pics rather than just one. But still it's incredibly annoying and I miss all the intel I could have gotten if the cam didn't glitch. That's a problem I've only ever had with Browning.
Buy a cheap Chromebook and a USB SD plug. Cheap cheap cheap, fast, and effective. They have enough storage to save whatever pics you want in a file, then when done you can transfer the pics to an external hard drive. WAY faster at loading, reading, and formatting cards plus a bigger screen than those little viewers.
