Ran across a very nice Remington 700 in 50cal stainless muzzle loader with nipple cap ignition. Can these be changed to 209 primers as both my encores run the 209 system. If so what would be the appropriate cost to change it over ?

I bought mine probably 20 years ago. I did the 209 primer upgrade and added a Boyd thumb hole stock. I use it a lot and have never had any issues with it. It has killed a lot of deer and hogs.

I have 2 as well. One is an arrowhead conversion with a 45 cal pacnor barrel. The other is bone stock with the remington 209 conversion.
 
I don't know about today's prices , but I got a banger ridge kit 10 years ago for 400 dollars. But that's ok , I love my 700
 
My 209 converted 50cal 700ML was one of the most accurate rifles I've ever had....... until I loaned it out, the guy hunted in the rain after missing a deer and didn't clean it. The bore was ruined. Picked up 2 barrels for it on the cheap, with one being stainless. Then bought a CVA Optima Pro and sold the Remington stuff for $500 :)
 
If you don't want to go the smokeless route, pick up an Arrowhead conversion. Extremely clean and reliable.

This right here. Remington 700 ML factory barrels are known for accuracy. Most will shoot close to MOA accuracy or better with the right load.

BH209 with 100GR or 120 by weight loads will get you darn close to smokeless loads. Get u a good dialer of a scope and dial it in and u got urself a good dial.in Mz to 300 yards. For less than 500 bucks. And it won't weigh 14LBS
