Liberty and Louisville are undefeated too, I don't think many reasonable/rational folks would consider them the best teams in their conferences.

Because of logic and rational interpretation. The same reasons that reasonable/rational folks understand that the best College teams wouldn't be competitive against the worst NFL teams.

Relevancy comes into play as well. Some teams are...some teams are not.
