My best friend that i worked with is hunting a lease in south Georgia. He shot what he thought was a huge doe, only to find it was a buck that someone had cut the horns off of. Most likely a pet deer is what i am thinking.

I killed one very similar to that about 20 years ago. Opening day seen a lone doe. Noticed something on its head and sure enough it had nubs like that. That following Monday had a doe step out and I shot her. Tracked and found her and without seeing the head I just grabbed its back legs to flip it over. Seen a pair of 🥜 and sure enough it was that buck I'd seen the couple days before.
 
We had a buck on our place that we watched for 3 years and he never had a rack on his left side. I finally killed him and he only had a small nub on his left side. It's mostly covered in hair in the pic but is similar to the one above. I always assumed it was from some type of injury but don't know.

When I first started hunting my property in MS years ago, I would kill at least 1 buck a year (sometimes 2) with this trait. Usually younger deer. This went on for four or five years, and then just stopped. Haven't seen one like this in 15 years on my place.

They did that with large bucks introduced into chuck swan to improve the heard,,, (many years ago, late 80's i think)
