My son graduates in a couple weeks and I'm thinking of assisting him in purchasing an inexpensive truck. I didnt know if anyone had anything available thanks.

I have an old 97 s10. 4 cyl 5 speed single cab with 180k on it. Well cared for mechanically, not a looker though. Red with fading clear coat/paint on the hood and roof. Dash is cracked. Not a looker but has been reliable for me and everything works including heat and ac. I would sell for for fair price if interested. I have been contemplating selling since I don't drive it much any more.

Most of us couldn't at one time. Never too late too learn. Can you imagine the stories you could tell your grandkids about the experience.
Learned in a 58 international.. as clumsy and awkward as I was as a kid…anyone can learn, plus it's basically anti theft

Haha I have a 2005 nissan titan that I will be putting up for sale soon. It's not super pretty on the outside or inside but it runs and the heat,ac,and 4x4 works. Has 205k miles on it. It was so good to me I ended up buying a 2016 titan

I totally agree however, he has 2 weeks before he actually gets his license so it's going be a little bit
If you give him a truck with a stick, I think you'd be surprised with how fast he picks it up. Makes a great motivator - "here ya go son, it's a stick." "No prob dad, I'm ON it!"

When I was in high school I found a 5 speed Silverado that I wanted. At the time I'd never drove a stick. I bought it and my dad had to drive it home for me. We got home and he rode around all evening and late that night with me teaching me how to drive it. The next morning I drove it to school!
I learned at 12 in an empty parking lot. I think at 13 or 14 dad let me drive half way to his parents house. Probably for an hour and numerous highway crossings lol. Glad I was given the opportunity as these new vehicles are mostly all automatics
Ditto on him learning to drive it quickly. It's a lot harder to talk on a cell phone with a stick too

First car and only car I own is a 2003 tacoma stick…had no idea how to drive a stick when I got it. The stick shouldn't be a deterrent. I learned super fast and it's an anti theft device nowadays lol
my girl is 16 . I taught her on my Tacoma . New clutch now but she got the skill. All 4 of mine can drive a manual
That's funny. Especially to those of us that started driving in the 50's-60's.
If they still made 3 speed on the column
