With my mount just about finished , I have been needing to finish up my pedestal base. Been looking for ideas on fake dirt. Didn't really like the looks of what I found on the internet. Decided to try my own recipe. Started with a bag of top soil and mixed in dirt from under my storage building that was already dry and powdery. Then mixed in a little sand. Fired up the grill and dried for a few hours. For the test piece I laid down a area of Elmers glue and added the dried dirt on top until it quit soaking up the glue. After it dried I sprayed a good coat of polyurethane on top. Seems to be plenty durable enough to stay put on the base.
