The first couple of years, yes... I would propose that in order to prevent taking hunting opportunity away from people. If population doesn't improve, then I would strongly recommend closing the season mid May. Late season doesn't matter that much. The kill is so frontloaded to the first 10 days of whenever the season opens, it's insane. Almost 2/3 of the entire season's kill happens in the first 10 days... When those first 10 days fall in relation to breeding and nest initiation is the most crucial.
