Increase in cost of turkey calls especially mouth calls

I don't do this anymore. Got a bad infection one year pain was so bad I could barely hunt...

I did this too. Sick as a dog. Dr said that's what caused it was using old calls. Now I use 1 season. That's it.

I'm just saying you don't need a $18 call to kill birds... even old birds. A $5 call will do just fine killing the old birds.

I cannot imagine $15-20 for a mouth call. Lots of solid mouth calls for $5-10 each that will finish a gobbler up to the gun. For the pricier calls, I suspect you could get a better deal if buying in bulk (20+ calls), and be set for life. I love custom/quality calls as much as anyone, and own my share, but high dollar turkey calls are as overhyped as any part of the sport when looking at what is "truly needed" to kill a bird. Good hearing, woodmanship and patience will kill more birds than custom calls and pretty calling, all other things being equal.
