If the bradford pears were older trees that's not unusual. I have noticed a pattern in those things. When they get to be like maybe 20 years old they start to fall apart without the help of wind.Had a buddy that HAD a bunch of bradford pears around his large back yard.
He did the same thing. Think he used 1/8" though.
All for naught, as they eventually all got taken out by wind.

Thanks! Got these on my apple trees now. So much better!! Appreciate the tip.Drill a hole around 1/4 inch in a 5 gallon bucket and let it water a young tree slowly. We are in an D3 Extreme drought here, last week was D4 Exceptional drought here in SW Louisiana.
