Had a good opening week here in Tennessee. Killed my 2 Toms in 2 different counties. Spent around 5 hours hunting and called in 6 Toms with my Wendell Jolley Scratch Tubes. Saw 11 total while afield. Called and killed the first one from the roost opening morning. After I picked him up 2 more gobbled close and I sat down and they came in and strutted around. Went mid morning Sunday and called in 2 as it started raining. Forced me to seek cover and they came in just as I had repositioned. They didn't stick around. Monday evening after work in gale force winds I was unable to strike or call one but was able to lay eyes on one loafing with hens about 100 yards. Went again Tuesday evening after work and was able to strike another and called him in and killed him at 15 yards. Walking out I bumped into 4 hens with 3 Toms. For the last few years I've used the Jolley tubes exclusively. Developed a great relationship with Wendell and have acquired a good sized collection from him. I sure enjoy these little calls. The 2 turkey bag limit this year sure does leave a lot to be desired when traveling isn't an option.
