Every trip I go, leaves me wanting to move out there. We actually rode around a couple afternoons looking at land for sale and scouting potential work places. There's mostly boat factories there and ALL of them just recently announced layoffs, including all of the ones in the White River Group....Ranger, Triton, Tracker, etc. Not looking good as those are the bread and butter places for that area. Fishing wise...we beat the caddis hatch and the fishing was really good for using bait. We used dead shad in the 3 to 4 inch range, thrown on river rigs and open bailed fishing. You'd hold the line on your finger til you got a bite then let it run free spool for a few yards then close down on it. Very similar to catfishing; setup in a hole in one spot and anchor down It's amazing how many fish one spot can hold. Water was at minimum flow too during the day...first time I'd seen it low like that. It made going across some of those shoals a bit tense to me and I was glad it wasn't my boat 😅 The rainbows were down lower around Wildcat to Cotter. The water was warmer there...it was still low 40s up towards the state park area and although rainbows were there, they weren't as actively being caught as they were further down. The big browns were chomping though.
