I took my buddy's 15 year old nephew trying to get him on a bird. We were sitting behind a fallen tree that was forked and perfect cover on the edge of the field to look through the fork and be hidden really well. We had our backs to the field to be more comfortable so we could lean up against the tree. Started hearing something walking in the wood line but couldn't see it. He finally spots it and says it's a hen. I still couldn't see it but could hear it was just steps away on the other side of the fallen tree. It then jumps up on the fallen tree right above the kids head and just a foot from me. I couldn't move to look but seen bark fall on him from her. She then jumped down and putted like she was nervous then just went back to feeding til dark. No clue why she decided to jump up on there but she sure did. Pretty dang cool experience to witness that.
