Lots of take-aways today. The biggest one, as I have never actually put a range finder to my turkety targets, I usually just pattern them where I’m comfortable shooting from, who in the cornbread world is shooting turkeys at 50+ yards? Good Lord! I shot at 40 today and don’t know if I want to shoot that far. I want to enjoy the game from a little closer than half a football field, just sayin’!! I never knew how far that was until I ranged it today. No dig on you if you shoot that far. To each his own! I just want to feel his drum in my chest and look him in the eye before I pull the trigger. But I digress……… Here are some other takeaways. I really, really, REALLY, dislike the trigger on my Benelli Nova. Very hard, long pull. Gonna have to order a different spring for it. Had to do that in my Stoeger 12 gauge also. The TriStar had a factory full choke in it. Did awful as far as patterns go. A friend of mine has a Jebs extra full .385 in his TriStar. I’m going to have to get me one before using it for turkeys. It works great for clay pigeons. I went and pulled out my Stevens 301 and it did much better!
