A little over a week ago I came across otter tracks on a sandbar in a creek bottom where I trap (in NC). The channel is 10-15' wide there, with a run in the middle. So I blocked it off and set up a 330 bodygrip in the run.
Today I knew something was up as I approached and my dive stick was out of place. This is what I found:

This is the first time I've caught an otter in a trap that was set on sign specifically for otter. Any otter I've caught in the past was picked up in a beaver/coon set. So I'm pretty happy for it.
In the bottom pic you can see the top of the trap where there's a gap in the guide sticks.
In the top pic that straight line cutting acros the picture is the anchor cable. It runs from a tree down through the stabilizer which was still in place, then to the trap holding the otter. Never knew what hit him.
