2 Saturdays ago on the first really cold morning we had this season, I was at the base of my tree putting my climber on the tree. Right before first light I could all of a sudden hear what sounded like a big deer crashing through a thicket coming straight towards me from the top of the ridge above. Next thing I hear is very deep grunting and even growled twice(Never heard a deer growl before). He stopped at 60-70 yards and I could not see him. I waited a couple minutes to see if he would come on down the ridge and maybe get a shot but he never did so I started grunting and and kicking leaves trying to act like another buck. I never heard or saw anything else. Later on that day I walked the top of the ridgeline and found a couple really good rubs and some big white oaks so I put up a trail cam and almost 2 weeks later I finally get this guy on cam! Seems like he is only moving in the coldest of temps right now. This is in E. TN by the way.
