Here's what I do - drive my 4-wheeler up to a tree, pull 20' of winch rope out and run that thru the snatch block. Then stand up in the front basket, and ratchet strap the snatch block as high as I can safely reach up the tree. Then back the 4-wheeler off the tree about a foot. Attach the winch rope to the deer however you need to. At this point you're ready to lift the deer into the front rack of your 4-wheeler. And the great part is that your winch/4-wheeler does all the heavy lifting. Below is a pic of a buck I killed earlier this year where I did the steps above to load him on my 4-wheeler. Works like a charm every time.
First, congrats on your buck! Cool story about the second buck showing up. Regarding getting your buck loaded on your 4-wheeler…. Do you have a winch on your 4-wheeler? If yes, then you can easily load deer all by yourself. All you need is a ratchet strap and a snatch block. I usually hunt by myself, which means I’m on my own for loading deer. Here’s what I do - drive my 4-wheeler up to a tree, pull 20’ of winch rope out and run that thru the snatch block. Then stand up in the front basket, and ratchet strap the snatch block as high as I can safely reach up the tree. Then back the 4-wheeler off the tree about a foot. Attach the winch rope to the deer however you need to. At this point you’re ready to lift the deer into the front rack of your 4-wheeler. And the great part is that your winch/4-wheeler does all the heavy lifting. Below is a pic of a buck I killed earlier this year where I did the steps above to load him on my 4-wheeler. Works like a charm every time.
