Took off work Friday to hunt with my Dad on a farm we have had some good luck on this year. Got to our spot and tried to locate them with the owl call and NOTHING. We set up anyway and waited and heard a gobble way off in the distance. We figured we should make a move rather then sit tight. We moved about 200 yards and set up, called a little and heard a gobble, then another, then another. The birds hit the ground and went quiet, we waited about 20 minutes and I saw the top of one tom's fan in a distance. The grass was so high we could only see their heads. We called and they came running. They got about 30 yards and we had to wait for them to separate. Dad called it and two started floppin'. Two good birds. Mine had an 10 3/4 inch beard with 1 inch spurs. Dad's had a 10 inch beard with 1 1/8 spurs. Filled both our tags and ended our season. Man what a year.
