Welp, took vacation to start the delayed season here in the Mississippi River Valley thingy. Had three birds roosted Fri before opener. Dad and I went in and was set by 5:20. Birds flew down at 6:16 and we shot at 6:26. Only the 3rd time we have ever doubled since we have been hunting for 20 years. Got on another bird Monday morning in a farm outside the MRV thing (dad killed one Sunday hereand he gave me the slip Monday and Tues. Got frustrated with him and took a day off Wed to get my mind right and set up a plan. (He had been skirting my decoys so I tried only a hen Tues. he skirted it. Went in Thirs and set the decoys in the same spot but I moved up the tree line and caught him getting a little too close) Waited him out Thursday morning and dropped him at 9:20. Got one tag left and not really worried about spending right now. Went and hunted some public this morning. Had a good hunt and heard several birds, but nothing wanted to play. My 1st was 20lbs 8in beard and 1 1/8 spurs Dads 1st was 19lbs 10in beard and 3/4 spurs My 2nd was 22lbs 9 in beard and 1 1/4 spurs Dads 2nd was 17lbs 9.5in beard and ONE 1/2 spur.
