People in colder areas plant them a lot for food plots because when snow covers the ground they are some of the only food standing above the snow. Now as for Tennessee I don't know the deer's preference for brown beans but I can imagine they would stop to eat them

I have planted them before, when the leaves start turning yellow and brown the deer will pull off of them but when the beans get ripe or turn brown the deer will wear them out again.I plan on planting them again next year.
