First, thanks to everyone for the congrats and kind words. There was way too many posts to reply to everyone, and I was shocked at how many commented. He's no doubt an 8pt of a lifetime which is why I felt it should be shared. Many thanks!!

Several asked about the score and some asked what county in which it was killed. It was taken in Putnam County. I scored it fairly quickly, but I've scored a ton of bucks so I know this is close. Some wanted to know specifically about the G-2's. One was 13.5" and the other 13". The total score w/o mass included was 116" and the mass was just under 30". It does have a sticker at the base which is right at 1". So, 147" gross.

Below I've attached some pics of the jawbone and would love some feedback. I feel I'm great at judging age on the hoof, but leave the judging of tooth wear to the experts. I'm taking these to the local TWRA office soon to get their expert opinion. The guy I use is a veteran at aging and use to do it at Catoosa WMA for a very long time. But, some of you I know are very good at this, so here you go. Sorry about the pink stuff. Something the taxidermist put in it and I scraped as much off as I could.

Thanks again everyone!!

Fooled me....I thought it would easily get across the 150 mark and might reach 160 gross depending on the mass. The G2's make that buck extra special. Congratulations on a great buck! A 140+" 8 pointer is just a beast.

What was inside spread and base circumference?

That's not a lost tooth. It's a massive jawbone abscess. He most likely had a jaw impaction and resulting arterial worm infection. But sure didn't affect his growth! Just goes to show how tough these animals are.

He is going to be difficult to age by toothwear because of the massive abscess. His non-abscessed side is classic 4 1/2, but the abscessed side shows significant wear on the last molar, suggesting 5 1/2. However, I suspect that tooth experienced excessive wear because of the abscess and ensuing displacement of the surrounding teeth upwards.

Either way he is at least 4 1/2, and I would suspect he is 5 1/2.

Again, great buck. My score guess was 142 to 145 which is an absolute giant 8pt. It looked like it lacked a little in main beam length when compared to tine length. Either way, it's a great deer.

I agree that he's 4.5+ based on toothwear.

Great buck, I am leaning that's he's 5 1/2 if not older. The reason I guess that is that I see a lot of deer killed that tooth wear shows 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 and the hunters have trail cam pics that are obviously the same buck for 2 or 3 seasons and they will be close to the same rack size give or take a few inches, congratulations on a stud, he deserves some top notch taxidermy
