Not sure where the lease or classifieds are so just posting here. I have decided to lease family 53 acre tract in South Lawrence county in the Five Points area. The land has easy access along south road border and a person could probalby gain permission to access from a couple of properties on the north side. Woods were select cut about 15 years ago. There are some big white oaks left as seed trees and other oaks on road frontage. About 4 acres was never cut on the back side. There is some hunting by neighbors on the borders. I walked the entire perimeter 2 weeks ago and found two older ladder stands, but unless owners have changed they were always a 1 or 2 day hunter, or did not hunt at all. It is relatively thick in some spots and quiet access to back takes planning. Deer will stay on the property all day. I usually just walk 50 yards from road and hunt the long ridge. I had at least 15 different bucks on camera last year. Many were on camera during daylight. I passed up a couple of smaller bucks on two morning sits during rifle season and a nice 8 during ML. The rut supposedly runs later starting around Thanksgiving and into Dec. in this part of the county. Bucks were still hanging out together on Nov. 10 last year. It is typical farm country. A field of soybeans and corn are only 1/2 mile away and lots of bedding area around the farm. Also borders cattle farms. I have never seen a turkey or a snake on the place. You can cut some shooting lanes through small popular, just don't cut my hardwoods. There is a spring that runs along border and through back hollow. You can start hunting it on Black Friday through end of season. I may hunt it one morning before Thanksgiving. This property will easily accommodate 2 hunters comfortably at opposite ends of ridge or bottom. Parking is along road and a very short walk from church for stealth. A leaf blower could help clear a nice silent entry trail. I have couple of cell cameras out and can share photos when they start coming in, but slow so far. $450 for rest of the 2023 - early season. My son hunted yesterday morning till 10:30 and this buck cruised through at 11:30 am.
