The steel ammo can't be reloaded. Also, there's a lot of folks who say steel ammo dirties the gun faster.
If he's not going to be shooting it a lot it probably won't matter much, steel or brass.

It doesn't look like Glock specifically addresses steel case ammo on their web site. So it should be covered.
But here is something you might need to know…
