.223 is mainly what I am seeing on shelves around here. Most of the available ammo I am finding is "tactical" in nature. .223, 5.56, .308, 12G buckshot, etc. I'm ready to start seeing standard small game shotshells and mainstream deer hunting ammo in stock.

Same here. I got a 35 Whelen and only have one box of ammo for it. I would like to try a few varieties.

Andy, if you run across some .223 at a really good price in our neck of the woods please give me a heads up. I don't need any, but would like to stock up if the price was right.

That ol box of core-lokt has seen better days. I wonder how long they've had it since it's 25-20 win cause I NEVER see that around here

Will do, as I am frequently out looking at guns, ammo and hunting stuff. You need to educate me on what is a "good price" as I am not very knowledgeable of .223/5.56 ammo, and truly have no feel for what you consider a good price. Give me a quantity and price (25 shells, $25, etc) for reference, and I'll make it a point to keep my eyes peeled for you.

If you ran across some .223 or 5.56 for less than $0.40 a round locally (no crazy shipping costs) I would be all over it. I'm not sure that's possible in today's ammo market, but I'm seeing it getting really close online. Don't go to a lot of trouble, but if you see some jump out at you I'd definitely make a trip.
