As an aside of clarification (and perhaps the envy of most hunters from most other states): Very few states have as long a modern rifle season as does Tennessee ---- this long rifle season is where the most opportunity is being provided to the most hunters. For most, the "real" opportunity is the number of weekends available to hunt, not whatever the buck limit. We currently have about 3 times the modern rifle hunting days as neighboring Kentucky. Heck, some states don't even allow deer hunting with a modern rifle. But regarding annual buck limits, "two" seems to be the norm for most other states, so nothing bizarre about TN having a 2-buck limit (especially with modern rifles, and a very long deer season). There you go :) And despite some regulatory confusion, our statewide regs are remarkably "simple" compared to those of many other states. Take a look at neighboring Virginia's deer regs, almost a completely different set of rules for every county.
