Moved to TN 6 years ago. Hunted very seldom our first 3 years here and haven’t hunted at all the last 3 years. I sold my shotgun a few years back because I didn’t use it much. I decided a couple of weeks ago to go ahead and get a turkey gun and get it set up and hit the woods. I’ve been hunting for about a week and have been close a couple of times. Yesterday I was walking around doing some scouting. I saw a rub on a small pine and decided to mark it on HuntStand for deer season. As I was doing this one hammered about 100 yards from me. The pines I was in were pretty wide open. There was one thick area between me and the turkey so I set up behind it so I could shoot either side. I called a couple of times and he answered and started moving my way. He hung up within gun range on the other side of the thicket gobbling and drumming. After one final soft yelp, he couldn’t take it anymore. 1 for 1 with the new 870. Very blessed day. Can’t wait to get back after them next week!
