I can't get hen wingbones so I use 3/16 cane, it's about the right diameter inside and out. This one is just a trial run working out how to turn one. I haven't fooled with a lathe in over 30 years.

That's one of the things that is so cool about turkey hunting. Some love making their own calls. Some love collecting calls. Some love rolling their own ammo
Me, I could care less about any of that, but I respect those that do. I just want to work a gobbling turkey... by any means necessary!

I should try that! I used to make my own duck calls back in the 90's, although they looked better than they sounded. 
You should! It's a lot easier than turning duck calls. About the only special tool you need is a 1/8" 8" aircraft bit, the toughest part is trying to get the 1/8" hole through the length of the pcs you're turning.I should try that!
