I was very skeptical the first time I did it, but it definitely works! Collapse the lungs & nothing to push the scent out. The first time I tried it 3 years ago, I totally missed the skunk at 15-20 feet with . 22 rifle as I was already running the other way while pulling trigger !!! Once I settled down, it worked like a charm. Have probably killed 15-20 since then in traps without a single spray.Shoot it through the lungs & can't spray. Got one out of one of my traps last week, not a squirt.
Yeah that's what I'll do. Kids checked their trap after I left for work. So I'll take care of it when I get off. If it don't spray, it will make a cool peltI was very skeptical the first time I did it, but it definitely works! Collapse the lungs & nothing to push the scent out. Dog food in live trap with some fish oil or rotten fruit works in a live trap. They will also get caught in dog proofs with just about anything for bait. I actually dont mind catching them they are calmer than most anything that I have caught and i have been sprayed and the smell don't seem to bother me anymore. It sorta smells like extra strong coffee to meHow were you baiting the trap? I always worried about catching a skunk, but haven't caught one yet.
I've been dying to try this, but since y'all told me about this a while back, I haven't caught one. I know one thing - head shots produce a spray 100% of the timeI was very skeptical the first time I did it, but it definitely works! Collapse the lungs & nothing to push the scent out. Pond...Carry it where?
That's exactly what I did and it still smelled horrible for a few daysPond...
They also catch mice and eat grubs. If it was not for the smell and possibility of rabies they wouldn't be to bad to have around.Skunks dig out and eliminate yellow jackets nests. If can be helpful to have a couple of them around, not too many though.
Have you ever seen the ground dug up, and pieces of the nest scattered around? Most of the time that's from a skunk.
