Two fun facts for you, RUGER.

All snook are hermaphrodites, they start as males and as they reach about 28 inches in length they turn into females and start producing eggs.

They were known by the old timers as soap fish. This is because the skin of a snook tastes like soap. Best to filet and remove the skin.

My oldest boy caught a big snook right outside the marina near Grandma Dots, couldn't keep any because of past red tide. 🤦🏼‍♂️
Under the filet table there is a neat experience. They will eat out of your hand if you get them chummed up.

When I was a kid there was a big gag grouper that used to live in the marina there but some idiot caught and ate it.

I'm sure it's not the same after Ian.

They taste pretty good but between the odd slot sizes that seem to change every year and the season being closed on the west coast from the red tide, I release all of mine. I love skipping baits up under the mangroves and hearing them blow up on a bait. I ll be down in the glades next week but will be after deer.
