My son and I are new to hunting, he actually got me into it and I think I'm more excited than he is. We bought us a cam and put it up where we will be hunting (private land). Been moving it around a lot trying to find deer. Finally got one on cam and hopefully he will be able to score on the juvy hunt. We are new to this so we are figuring it out as we go. Love this site and all the info on here.

Thanks we will need it. I grew up fishing, never hunted and somehow he got interested last year and we have figured out so far the upfront costs are expensive. Lol so we do a little at a time as we cam afford it. We're off Friday night to find some orange to wear. Hopefully its not too expensive.

Good luck! I'm like a kid at Christmas when I'm pulling the SD cards! Personally, I like the mesh vests for orange. Pretty inexpensive just buy one that will fit with your all of your bulky winter clothes. I also hang one off the back of my pack when I'm walking in/out. Hope your son gets to put her down!!

Fished my whole life but didn't start hunting until I was in my mid 30's, so I know where you're coming from. Figured out a lot on my own with the help of sites like this. Never thought I'd say this, but I now enjoy hunting more than fishing.

My one piece of advice is to enjoy the full experience, including processing and cooking the wild game you take. I love catching, cleaning and cooking fish, but I love killing, processing and cooking big game even more.

Good luck to you!

Good luck to you both, Don't get caught up trying to get that wall hanger, it will come with time. I enjoy a nice fat doe to consume more than a rangy smelly buck, unless it is a nice mature one, which I have been fortunate enough to score several in my lifetime of hunting.
The most important take from this is that it is You and your Son spending time together outdoors. :super:
