    Sell me on why 20ga?

Yep. If you think you might need a 2nd shot, you probably shouldn't be pulling the trigger. No where else for me, but many are just going for whatever the pellets will hit. I've passed up several "easy" kills already this year, just because I couldn't get a clean head/neck shot. I eat my...

    Sell me on why 20ga?

I think my crazy brother in Mississippi should sell his behemoth 10 ga to Setterman, as this could greatly enhance the Setterman's physical fitness program. Enough is Enough 😝 and this thread has been enough said.

    Sell me on why 20ga?

Very true, within reason. If you're shooting TSS #9, these will completely pass thru a turkey's skull beyond 50 yds, even with a low-velocity, reduced recoil 20 ga load. So if you have a dense, uniform pattern of these at "x" yardage, you should be able to have 95%-plus probability of an...

    Sell me on why 20ga?

Perhaps the biggest case I can make for using TSS may be the ability to use a more open choke, and still maintain the same (or greater) lethal range of lead loads. I would argue most turkey hunters would go home with more turkeys if they were using a factory "modified or full" choke instead of...

    Sell me on why 20ga?

Same here. But imo, a 20 gauge load of 1 1/2 oz #9 TSS isn't just as effective as a 12 ga 2 oz load of #5 lead, as it's marginally more effective, especially if you only go for head/neck shots.

    Sell me on why 20ga?

For me personally, I prefer the 20 ga because, not just for the lighter weight, but the smaller "footprint" dimensions simply make it easier to carry & maneuver. And my 20 ga is deadly well beyond the range I'll shoot any turkey that "plays the game" with me. Don't just think about the...

    Sell me on why 20ga?

Seems most everything needing pondering has been pondered! 😃 My thought here is more about Setterman than TSS or a 20 ga vs. a 12 ga. But before going forward and to provide full disclosure, I, myself, do in fact do most of my turkey hunting now with a 20 ga. THAT, my friend, is one of the...

First trip of the year...BIG surprise!

You gonna need a bigger stringer.

    Getting a shotgun backbored

Are the Mossberg turkey guns already factory back-bored?

    Interesting concept

That should make the idea good then. I often use two cams pointed in near opposite directions to achieve similar results.

    Let’s fry it up

Yesterday I drove by the little "convenient" store in Dresden where Ruger used to stop to by crickets. Every time I drive by there, I think of Ruger excitedly going in to get crickets. He sure loved the bream fishing, and was perhaps the best bream fisherman in Tennessee. Best bream filleter...

    Interesting concept

"Interesting" concept, yes. I'm wondering if that sudden cam movement will spook game? I don't see how it wouldn't spook a turkey, not sure to what extent it may spook deer.

    Turkey choke?

IMO, the shells you choose to shoot may be as or more important than the choke. I've become very partial to TSS, with which there is less need for rifle-like extra, extra full chokes. Will most the birds you ultimately decide to pull the trigger be over or under 45 yds? Factory "full" (not...

    Buck bedding behavior

Which is one of the reasons it can be counter-productive to hunt food plots on morning hunts, as you can easily spook them when you set up near the plot/field.

    Buck bedding behavior

Actually, mature bucks will sometimes bed right in the middle of a food plot or field, but usually at night. Same goes for open mature hardwoods with little "cover".
