Disagree for me, even though its been more than 10 years since I shot more than 1 in a season. I don’t know if a statistic exists, but I would guess a large portion of deer hunters in the state care nothing about managing for a trophy deer population. It’s probably even the majority.

I have held my hands on one that I thought could be the biggest in the state. It was never entered in any books that I am aware of. Most hunters in TN will never kill a buck with base measurements that this deer had in his G2s. Certainly a good deer for argument for the people that want to see...

On the place I hunt, deer movement is extremely diminished during foggy mornings. However, I have had some greats hunts once the fog starts burning off good.

If you hunt long enough and kill a few bucks, it’s almost bound to happen to everyone. I have been on both sides of the coin in the situation. The type of terrain/cover you hunt can also have an impact on decision making. Like others have said, be thankful, learn from it, and move on to the next...
