Is anyone else going the day of the draws to see the announcement?! I'm hoping a lot of people will and not give TWRA the satisfaction of saying no one showed up

My group is planning to go just so they can't say no one showed. Hang out, get lunch, and hopefully go check a blind out if we are lucky enough.

No I
Is it only one location? I remember reading something about it but not sure exactly what the plan is.
Way I understand it. They'll be an announcement at every previous draw site ( like the good ole days) Why we can do this but not have the actual drawing is beyond me but…. What do I know I hope people show up

Emails will be sent out either right at 10 or just after that with results as well. And if I'm not mistaken I believe I thought I seen where all the results will be supplied to everyone as well. As in a list of names Idk if it'll just be for the wma you applied for or what. Thought I read that somewhere

I would go as normal, but I'm scheduled to do camp church at Chicasaw state park on that Sunday, and we go hand out fliers and invites on Sat morning. We scheduled this before they decided on the in person announcements based on the past couple of years email only announcement.

NEWS RELEASE:

I wanted to take a moment to share the locations for TWRA's in-person duck blind announcements on August 6th. Traditionally, TWRA made in-person drawings for our WMA duck blinds, this year, the application and draw are still online, but we will be making in-person announcements to allow duck hunters to get together, and for communities to once again participate in the announcements.

TWRA staff will be setting up at locations at 9am with our official announcements taking place at 10am. We will have a mix of wildlife, law enforcement, and outreach staff there to interact with folks. Feel free to share these events with your communities.

West TN locations are:
1. Kentucky Lake WMA at Big Sandy Ball Park
2. West Sandy WMA at Henry County Fairgrounds (Announcement will be at 9am)
3. Barkley WMA at Stewart County High School
4. Reelfoot WMA at Reelfoot Lake State Park Visitor Center
5. Tigrett WMA at Dyer County Fair Grounds
6. Gooch WMA at Obion City Park

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, and I will be sure to send along any other information we put out for these events.

I think they probably got complaints from conservation groups (Nwtf, du, etc) that raised $ from raffles. This is their way of "proving" there is not enough interest in site in person draws.

I think they are trying to make up for the loss of fund raising revenue in the towns hosting the events. But you won't get 1/10 of the number of people to come to this type of event as would come to a in person hand draw.

We spend $500-$600 per weekend in Kennett, MO. Meals, lodging and other expenses. Not alot by any means, but those tax $ do NOT go to TN. I wont even buy my federal duck stamp from TWRA so they dont get the admin fee. I laugh when i get the raffle email from TWRA. I know it's petty, but.....

As much as I've complained about it I'm gonna have my sorry tail up there just for spite I guess Maybe a strong showing a year or 2 in a row might get them back to in person

I would be a $100 bill you will not see a strong showing at any of these locations. At least not compared to what it use to be at the live draws.
