I shot this deer a couple afternoons ago, in the middle of a cutover thicket. When I went to field dress her, she stank like onions...bad. When I went to pull the jawbone, she had a mouth packed with wild onion shoots.
What's the age? The jawbone wear seems a little atypical, so I checked the other side and it is an exact match.
good amount of fat...more than any other deer I've shot in a few years. I guess the huge acorn crop is paying dividends. Also, some of my clover plots still have edible clover, as opposed to the normal mud slick by this time.
