Thanks for the info wobbly and yes pyrodex is hard on metal. I always pulled the nipples, scrubbed with hot water and Dawn, then oiled it up after I shot it.Your Colt reproduction will do fine with 20-25 grains by volume for plinking. For max charges you can probably get 35...maybe a little more... in the cylinder and still seat the ball so it can spin freely. You will likely be getting something like 800 fps +/-.
One other thing, your pistol looks to be well taken care of and with pyrodex please, please clean thoroughly after shooting it. Pyrodex residue is nasty stuff on gun metal if left to sit.....Have fun!
