I have used this method and it works great. Takes a little while but is well worth it. If it is just a little rust, this may be overkill but I bet you can use the steps and tone them down a bit based on how much rust you have.

yep this method works. you can also use just a tablespoon and a little oil to clean the rust. for carbon steel chinese woks you can also clean them the same way. for seasoning i use one cup of salt and no oil on a wok. takes about 20 min on a gas flame, its like blueing and more durable than traditional seasoning. but beware it is extremely hot.
