Friend told me a TN turkey contest had a 28lb bird with 2 5/16 spurs as the winner. I said bull$hit. Anyone confirm?

Not sure that the spur was that but the bird was 28 pounds. Most likely that was the 2 spur combined score. That is if your talking about the Spur spankin crawfish invitational in Lincoln county.
It was 2 man teams and him and his grandson both had very heavy birds.
My friend and I won 3rd place over all and did really good on Calcutta on the side.

When they announced score it's a combination of the 2 spurs.
There was one here where supposedly it took 28.2 pounds to win and also had some others up there too. I suspect their scales weren't the best.

Most of those contests, if you feel the craw it tells alot about the hunt that took place...
thats a big bird. my heaviest was 26#

Yes probably most, but not the case if this was the spur spankin crawfish invitational. They tell you beforehand all money prizes are dependent on passing polygraph. I had to take one before getting our check. They cover added weight and baiting in the test. Not saying it couldn't be beat but they are definitely legit on trying to keep it fair.
