Can you be hot and cold at the same time. Cold as can be when the wind is whipping, hot as can be when it is still or changes direction.

But I was able to accomplish this fine feat of redneck engineering. I have a couple of current and former coworkers on here so I hope that they don't turn me in to the safety police

Yeah, I get it. Believe it or not I'm a carpenter by trade, and used to have several active scaffold cards. I know that it wouldn't pass any engineering or safety inspections, but I will be the only one in it and I have been in FAR worse. It's actually quite sturdy, but no handrail
