I bought this rifle from a Gentleman in 1972. He ordered this rifle from Sears & Roebuck In 1951 its called the Peanut model, you could take the grip cap off and send the brass insert to Marlin and have your initials engraved on it, this one has not been engraved.. Has the old Ballard rifling and shoots great. He also ordered it tapped on the barrel were you could have a scope mounted, Marlin hadn't started tapping the receivers yet. I had a guy to tap the receiver and he got the front tap a little off center as seen in pic. Has Lyman peep sight on it . I used it for some informal peep sight matches we used to have. Bluing and the wood on rifle is in great shape for a 73 year old rifle, has a ding on the forearm as seen in the last pic. Lever is as smooth as butter and the best trigger you will ever drop the hammer on in a lever action.
