I previously listed the Ruger 4" barrel GP 100 as a favorite. 2nd place would be the S&W 686 in 6" barrel. I tried one as a rental, and shot 357 mag bullets. It was pretty mild as far as recoil went. I'd definitely consider one in 4" barrel.

Wanting to look at options

I have two and can't choose between them. First is a Ruger Single 6 with two cylinders, 22 mag and 22, all sizes. Bought in 1975 and had it refinished after the bluing began to irritate me.

Second is a Ruger Mark 1 bought in 1976. It's a bicentennial version and still in great shape.

I had a similar Single six back in the 80's. Great pistols. Have one still, but not with two cylinders. Yours was blue and originally? So it was refinished nickle?

Nope, I have nothing bad to say about my Shield and Shield plus. Never had any issues with either after years and many multiple rounds through them.
