Two weeks ago I got on an elliptical machine at the local rec center. With my wife working for county schools, we got a break on the annual membership. Plus she got drafted onto some team from school for a fitness challenge.

10 minutes in my thighs were burning like eyeballs at a chili cookoff. So out of condition. Now, with the help of iPhone, headphone and Netflix, I can walk through an episode of Arrested Development.

Maybe before it's all over, I can watch a full-length movie. NOT Lord of the Rings.

Last year I was alternating each night between an elliptical and a treadmill 6 times a week and was really making great progress and ended up getting pneumonia and couldn't do anything for a couple of weeks and just lost my drive. I really hate working out by myself,it just seems like I get bored after a while not having somebody to push me. I work for a fitness company now and have free use of our showroom equipment after work hours everyday,so I really don't have an excuse anymore, just have to get motivated again.

Been slacking off at the gym. I was working out 3 days a week, now it's more like 2 days a week. But my wife says she can tell a difference. That's worth the time in the gym!

I keep saying I need to get back on track. Hard to find time with a full-time job, college, and a 2 yr old. I bought a knock off of p90x, what I need to do is 15 minutes or so of the video a few times a week and do more when time allows. Sucks working out by yourself.

I actually like working out by myself. I've done the gym thing and it was ok as that was back in my younger single days. Nowadays, being married and all, I don't have much use for the social scene in the gym and just want to get my workout done. What used to take me a couple of hours in the gym I get done in 45 minutes or so. I do about 15 sets of different exercises (all free weights) and 150-200 leg lifts/leg extensions and call it an evening. I stopped working out for a long time myself but since I've gotten back into it I feel like a new man. so far I'm showing about a 2 pack. I just know that 6 pack is in there somewhere.

I've done all the workout programs and I always eventually get bored with them. So I am trying a new strategy. P-90x core workout for the mid-section, push-ups for the upper body, and kayaking/fishing for my cardio. Figure I will paddle against the current for about an hour or so and then float back to the truck fishing along the way. This way I get some relaxation right after.

I typically run 3 days a week, 1 day a week I spend 30 minutes on the elliptical doing hill workouts with a 50 pack, and 2 days a week I do a kettlebell workout from the wod shop. I always do the first workout to show up, and don't pick and choose the ones I want. On my running and elliptical days I also do push-ups and planks.

My off day is usually some sort of backcountry fishing in the mountains.

Started a workout regime today, gonna try to stick with it!! Need to get some fat gone!!

FYI:

Fat is lost in the kitchen, not the gym.

All working out will do is help your body process it more efficiently as it shows up. It will NOT "burn" off the stuff you spent years backing on.

I spent 5 months last year battling this - 5-7 days/week in the gym, 30+ miles/week on the treadmill or eliptical, squats, bench, crunches, etc.

I got stronger, I had more endurance - but all that strong muscle was still hidden under fat. It was not until I changed my diet that the fat started to disappear.
