I've always been an English Pointer guy, and I'm looking for a dog that can double as a family pet (main role) but also perform out bird hunting (quail, grouse, woodcock, etc).

My wife saw one of these the other day and liked the look of it so I've been researching them for a couple weeks.

Anyone know any breeders for them? The cheapest I've found a puppy was like $800-1200. And some of those have caveats on registering the dogs (i.e. limited registration and/or co-ownership).

In a river hopefully!
I may be wrong but you had better have a bold personality to match theirs. Cool looking but everything I ever read or heard is that they are hard on other dogs and a one family pet.

Addendum
German wirehair pointer (above) is not a griffon supposedly. I was thinking they were like a Draathar.....a real head case but hard hunters. Sorry for misinformation.
