My wife gets in the truck today and asks me the loaded question, "How much do you love me?" me: "it depends." She then shows me 4 complimentary tickets to the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway that she was given for her perfect attendance the past year. Now I'm not a Nascar fanatic and have never been to a Nascar race. But free tickets are hard to pass up. These tickets comes with a 1 1/2 hour self-guided tour of the track from 9:00 -10:30am. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if they will allow me to switch/exchange seats for a couple in the wheelchair section. If they will, I guess I'll be driving to Bristol on the 17th.

You should go. even if you're not a big NASCAR fan you will like it. It really is something to experience in person...Just make sure you bring ear plugs. it is seriously unbareable without them.

When you call about the seats check to see if they have any on site parking. I don't know your situation but Bristol is not a place to go if you have trouble getting around. There are shuttles from most parking areas but it is still a little distance between them. The track tour is good. If you have earmuffs bring them along with your earplugs. You will need both. Also if you can bring a cooler for your drinks, they are pricy inside the track. Any other questions just ask. Been to quite a few races here, not hard living 10 min from the track.

Get there early so u have time to check out the vendors. We always try to park at the fire dpt. Don't remember the cost but u know the money is going to a good cause. No to long of a walk and not to bad to get out of.

Like the others said...ear protection!! Ear plugs aren't enough at Bristol. I had electronic shooting muffs on and wish I also had ear plugs.

We just parked in people's yards near the track....well about a half mile from it and it was still $20 to park lol Bristol is a great experience though. The fly over is great...the roar of engines and smell of racing fuel puts a different feel to it all. The only downside to it is contending with 70,000 drunk/buzzed people and trying to get out after the race. I've been to 3 tracks and Bristol was/is the worse I've been to as far as traffic goes. I got in it once coming back from northern Virginia and it took me 2 hours to go about 10 miles.

I saw Fireball Roberts, the Real Junior, and a whole host of others at Daytona in the 60's.

Go.

And be sure to get something for your Wife.

I have only been to one NASCAR race, but it was the Food City 500 several years ago. My son and I had a blast. Definately need ear protection for the racing in a blender at Bristol! Have fun and be patient when you leave, it will take forever. At least it did for us. Maybe some old pros here can tell you best places to park and quickest way to get out.

When you check about the seats I'm sure they'll take of the parking also.
When the wife is Happy every one is happy.I say go and have a good time or at least act like you're enjoying it.Be careful not to get caught looking at the ladies. You might make sure you bring some good dark sunglasses. :)
I like a good race live and in person but don't care too much about watching it on TV.

I just got off the phone with Becky from Bristol Motor Speedway. She exchanged the tickets for 4 seats in the David Pearson section where we can all set together. No hassle whatsoever. She is also sending me a parking pass. Goodness, my cup is indeed running over this week!!!! :)
