Anyone watch this show? I know a lot is probably staged but I like the fishing aspect of it. I can't believe one fish can earn you close to $10000.00. Unreal.

The characters and circumstances are very real. No question about it, having retired here from RI know the Blue Fin passion. Would fish the same banks they do now except the bay, we were out of Point Judith (New Port area). Yes the fish do bring big bucks my last fish was 101 701# and brought in $8,700.00, that was in 1989. You call it in and the broker would meet you at the dock, do a biopsy, load it in a ice coffin and off it would go to Logan AP and be on the auction block the very next morning in Japan. The blues were more plentiful then, up until that time a factory ship would locate just outside the limit and would pay you CASH. That was until the feds got involved; now you need a license and must bring them to the dock. You think you protect your deer and turkey honey holes .. Try these guys on. The only difference, we used a number of lines as well, but fought them from a fighting chair not out of rod holders. Just met a guy from MA last week and he had the same thought. Back then Maco shark would bring $5.00 > $5.50 # back at the dock. Maco was like swordfish, tastes/looks the same and a lot more common and one big time fight. Try sitting on a rocking boat throwing chum over board in 90 + degrees all day. Kind of like sitting in a stand all day without the stink! Miss it a bit though.

Good show, hope they don't start playing the drama game, man that messes alot of the shows up!JMO

Are we watching the same show? There is drama in every episode. Last night's episode was personal drama almost from start to finish on the Tuna.com and the Pin Wheel!

It was sad to see the Bounty Hunter fight that monster tuna for 3 1/2 hrs only to have the incompetent Captain Bill cut the line with the harpoon and lose the fish. He should just hang it up. He had an awful season last year and this season he's doing even worse. He's only caught 2 keepers in 9 weeks and one of them wasn't even worth $1000. I would never be a mate for that guy.

Captain Ralph on the Odyssey may be even worse than Captain Bill. He had the worst season of all the boats last year and this year he's caught 1 fish in 9 weeks. I don't see how he makes a living. He must be bleeding cash.

I enjoy the show because I like seeing the monster bluefin tunas get landed, but I have no idea how these guys can come close to making a living doing this and I could do without the personal drama that I believe the producers fabricate to try to keep the show interesting. There are hours and hours and hours of no action on these boats, so I guess they have to come up with something to keep people watching.

I saw a funny quote about the show on an East coast fishing website -

"Commercial bluefin tuna, the most expensive job in the world."

My least favorite would be the Bounty Hunter Crew especially when the woman shows up. All she dose is complain the whole time she is there, I don't see the point in here coming to fish weekends. Its not like they need a lot of help not catching anything.

Last night's episode. Captain Dave fires Paul for the second time after they argue in the tackle shop and all day on the boat. Captain Tyler and his mates yell and scream at each other for almost the whole episode until they catch a tuna. Captain Marciano does an emergency repair to his junker boat right before they hook and land a monster that nets them over $11,000. Captain Bill on the Bounty Hunter can't do anything right, as usual. No appearance by Captain Ralph and the Odyssey. Maybe he quit and sold the boat since he can't catch any keepers.
