I have planted some in April before and they turned out fine. Better hope for rain though unless you plan to water them.

U.T. extension suggests you plant them by the end of March. The 1st week of April is a coin toss with the weather.If you will be planting them close to home and can tend to them I would say plant and don't worry about it.If they are going to be planted and left to fend for themselves the survival rate may not be so good. Location makes a lot of difference also a sheltered valley would be better than the wide open fields of west Tn.Wind will dry them out just as bad as the hot sun.
