When do you start shed hunting?

The only one I ever found was right out open in a plot.

Better then sitting in the house plus I use it as another tool to scout I find most on field edges but I will go into areas I normally don't during the season just to look around yes I just sit them on the shelf but like I said better then sitting on the house during the off season.

Found this one in a very nasty thicket creek bottom yesterday. Hope that sticker grows some next year. January is when I do nearly all of my scouting for the next year. You can scout the deer and find where other hunters have been

It depends on how often you're going to look for sheds. If you're just going 1 or 2 trips here in SW Tn I'd wait until closer to the end of March but before green up starts. I've seen quite a few bucks still carrying antlers at the beginning of turkey season.
