Guess that depends on the size of the fish you target... I do not use a net... As I tend to release most fish I catch... Usually just grab a handful

For flatheads I'd get the biggest you can, the cats get a lot bigger than this one, I may need a new net. You can also lip them like largemouth, sometimes need 2 hands to lift them

Tough call. I hate carrying great big nets. They're cumbersome. But as soon as I don't and client hooks a monster, I wish I had it. But I've landed lots of trophy cats by hand. You have to "fight 'em to the finish!"

Nothing like a biggun' knawin' the hyde off you knuckles.....

I've caught them and ran my hand down their mouth and out their gills!

They'll chomp down on your wrist and then you got em'

Take notice of where the hook is at, with any luck its embedded in the top of their mouth.

Warning: The above actions may have been alcohol induced .

Yeah the only thing is I would suspect a large landing net would be a pain to use and handle and carry, even in a boat

Our old net was always getting in the way so bought one of these on Ebay:
2170 Frabill 8523 Power Stow Net with 48-Inch Telescoping Handle, 30 x 32-Inch

We keep it folded up and out of the way till needed. Love it! We normally release all big fish but the net makes it easy to get them in the boat for photos and to remove the hook.
